10/02/09.MID WEST REGION TASK FORCE HOLDS FIRST MEETING.The Mid West Region Task Force, which was established by the Tanaiste Mary Coughlan TD, held its first meeting today (Tuesday, 10th February) under the chairmanship of Mr Denis Brosnan.  The Task Force was set up in the wake of the announcement of substantial jobs losses at Dell to examine and report on the policies and strategies necessary to ensure a competitive and sustainable economy in the Mid West region into the future.. .The Mid West Task Force members are (L-R, Back - Front):. .* Ken Sullivan, General Manager, Element Six .* Brian O?Connell, Chairman, Atlantic Way .* Martin Cronin, Chief Executive, Forfas .* John Fitzgerald, Chairman, Limerick Regeneration Boards.* Kay McGuinness, Chairperson, Shannon Foynes Port Company .* Vincent Cunnane, Task Force Chief Executive, and Chief Executive, Shannon Development .* Denis Brosnan, Task Force Chairman .* Anita Higgins, General Manager, Adare Manor Hotel & Golf Resort .* Roger Downer, former President of the University of Limerick (not present).* John Herlihy, VP Onlines Sales and Operation, Google (not present) . .Speaking after the first meeting of the Task Force, Mr Brosnan said ?The Tanaiste has asked us to take an indepth look at all factors impacting on economic development in the Mid West, and in due course to bring forward proposals to her and to Government on the policies and actions required to drive the Mid West economy. I look forward to working closely with my Task Force colleagues on the important task given to us by the Tanaiste, however, the Mid West region faces significant economic challenges and there will be no quick solutions to these challenges?..Ends.Pic: Don Moloney/Press 22
