All of the villages, towns and cities who have won the overall Tidy Towns award since the competition’s inception in 1958 have been awarded seven Sessile Oak trees, to represent the seven signatories to the 1916 Proclamation. Looking on are; JJ Counihan, Clare County Council, Brendan Keogh, gardener, Noel Crowley, Ennis Tidy Towns, Tommy Scott, Clare County Council, Pat Daly, Mayor of Ennis, Donal Griffin, Mary Coote Ryan and Teresa Mc Grath, Ennis Tidy Towns and Helen Walsh, the 1916 co-ordinator for Clare.
